Overview of Ricoh multifunctional devices user interfaces

Operation via the display is self-explanatory and intuitive in many places, so we will only show you a few examples of user interfaces and how to change them here.

After logging on to the device by placing the CampusCard on the device, you will be taken to the home screen. (Do not forget: Please log out of the device when you have finished working).

A tip in advance: For PDF files with a large memory size, you can use a suitable PDF tool (e.g. "Power PDF Advanced" from Kofax) to compress the file size. You can find a description of how to compress PDF files using "Power PDF Advanced" in the online help for the product here.

The functions "Copier", "PDF OCR", "Image" and "FollowMe" (calling up the print job list) can be selected directly by touching the display. You can return to the main screen at any time via the "Home button (blue box)". The "PDF OCR" function generates a searchable PDF file based on the document setting "Automatic colour selection" and a high DPI number. In the scan settings (Figure 3, below), you can make settings to make the PDF file smaller (e.g. black and white: text/photo and lower DPI). The "PDF OCR" button takes you to the overview (Figure 2 below). Here you can change the directory for storage on your L-drive, whereby the scan result is written to a "Scans" subdirectory for the selected storage location. Note: Please note that it may take some time for the PDF file to be available in your home directory in the "Scans" folder when processing larger scan templates.
To change the scan settings, select the "Scan settings" entry at the top of the display. The scan settings take you to the user interface, which offers you various setting options.
In the "Resolution" area, you can set the DPI number for the scan template. You can also select the "Scan type", including the "Black and white: text/photo" option, for example, to create searchable PDF files with a smaller file size for text-only originals. You can also use this interface to set the settings for 1-sided or 2-sided templates under the "Template settings" menu item. (Template settings) menu item. For documents printed on both sides, select the 2-sided option under "Template settings" so that all pages are scanned automatically. The scanning process is started with the "Start" button.
