Jazz stories (2023)
Music theatre project "Jazz stories"
Three friends want to realise their dream of opening a jazz bar. Dark corners, old wooden tables, dimmed lighting - and a charming saxophone in the centre of it all. The sound fills the room and enchants the guests. Time stands still. But this unique atmosphere requires preparation. A dilapidated property seems perfect for this. It just needs a new coat of paint and then nothing stands in the way of the opening.
Clear the stage for jazz stories - a newly developed musical theatre project by students at the University of Oldenburg. With music, acting, humour and seriousness, 13 music students from the University of Oldenburg, under the acting direction of Volker Schindel, developed the jazz theatre piece in just a few months, which is now being performed. The project is also supported by musicians from the specially formed music theatre jazz band under the musical direction of Christian Kappe.
A co-operation between Volker Schindel (Music, Scene, Theatre), Mario Dunkel (Transcultural Music Education), Susanne Binas-Preisendörfer (Music and Media) and Christian Kappe (Big Band). Collaboration: Arne Wachtmann (projections)
