2nd station (school project)

Winter palace
"Nothing will happen"

The Winterreise (Schubert/Müller) and its adaptations, also by the Bremen composer Uwe Rasch, were used at the University of Oldenburg. At the IGS Flötenteich, the focus was on the topic of "identity". This resulted in the joint development of Winterpalais:

The year is 2030 and the block of flats called Winterpalais is in danger. People who couldn't be more different meet here. A letter causes resentment and fear, but also unites the residents of the Winterpalais: all buildings are to become climate-friendly. For the Winterpalais, this means demolition. Resistance forms, but all attempts to save the building are overshadowed. Because there is this rumour that spreads like a fire among the residents. The whispering was quiet at first, but it becomes an increasingly loud scandal. Can the Winter Palace be saved?

3rd station (students):

WG Winterstraße

Work on Schubert's "Winterreise" has been taking place at the university since October 2021. With the support of Uwe Rasch and Volker Schindel, interpretations were developed, staging ideas were sketched out and a "pile of material" was initially created.
Initially, many students found the topic too abstract. What do they have in common today with this wanderer who wanders alone through the winter landscape? And how should this - albeit primarily metaphorical - motif be meaningfully performed in summer?

Gradually, however, the students realised that this restless wanderer is in all of us: "We are available around the clock, present ourselves on social media and while we are socialising online, we are sitting alone in front of a screen. We swipe restlessly from top to bottom, from left to right. We are constantly bombarded with new information and there is never an end in sight."

Four young adults have settled into the "WG-Winterstraße" in between the normal everyday madness. Over coffee and chats in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening, they work on their everyday happiness in the flat share. At the same time, they go on seemingly endless wanderings in the digital world, nurturing longings, cultivating projections and finally shaking off the fear of missing out (FOMO). Or maybe not?

Premiere and second performance in the Aula (A11) of the university, Ammerländer Heerstr. 69:
Sat, 9 July 2022 at 8.00 pm
Sun, 10 July 2022 at 4.00 pm

The university's current hygiene rules apply, which currently stipulate that masks must be worn in the buildings and on the square. Before and after the performance as well as during a ventilation and fresh air break, the Music Student Council will be selling drinks and pretzels. Masks can and should be removed in the (partially covered) outdoor area and for the consumption of drinks and food.
