In the printing workshops of the Institute of Art and Visual Culture, students have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the theory and practice of the following traditional printmaking processes:

• Letterpress printing (lead typesetting, woodcut, linocut)
• Intaglio printing (copperplate engraving, drypoint etching, etching)
• planographic printing (lithography from stone)
• Through-printing (screen printing)
• Early photographic processes (cyanotype - printing with iron salts and sunlight)

So there will always be the question in the (workshop) room: How can I create a form relevant to our time with the means available to me in the workshop?
