Current research focus

Research in the field of music teaching methodology and didactics has shown that there are different basic ideas of music teaching methodology and didactics and that a tendency towards new considerations and changes in music education has emerged since the end of the 1960s. These changes are in the context of a terminological diversity of the concept of music education methods, which in turn refers to different orientations of the triad "goal-content-method" in music teaching.
The research focus is on analysing existing orders of knowledge on the methodology and didactics of music teaching as a function of socio-cultural, political or economic influencing factors on the basis of discourse-theoretical references. Of central importance here are power-based mechanisms of influence on subject positions (teachers, learners, educators, etc.) and object constructions (methods / content of music lessons), which influence the music teaching process. The overarching research interest is to make a contribution to the further development of music as a teaching subject through critical didactic and methodological reflection.

Current PhD topic: Methodology and didactics of music teaching - A discourse-analytical investigation of power-specific knowledge constructions in systematics and practice manuals of scientific music pedagogy
