For two and a half years, the Presidential Board and Faculties I to V worked closely together to develop a structural plan - as a basis for the future planning of the faculties and therefore also the university. Last week, the stakeholders signed the document.
How should the university strategically orientate itself in the coming years? Which research focuses should be strengthened, how can its profile be sharpened? The Presidential Board and Faculties I to V have now set out the main features of the planned development in a structural plan. School V - School of Medicine and Health Sciences will be included following the evaluation by the German Council of Science and Humanities. The planning process, which was initiated by the Presidential Board in 2017, is based on the University's programmatic university development plan from 2016. Last Wednesday, President Prof. Dr Dr Hans Michael Piper and representatives of the Schools signed the document.
"In order to position the university well for the future, we have intensively discussed and closely coordinated the distribution of resources, personnel planning and objectives in research and teaching," emphasised Piper at the signing ceremony.
The structural plan contains concepts to improve the quality of teaching and research and to promote young academics and artists. It also describes strategies for further education, internationalisation and Gender equality.
The strategy was developed in thematic dialogue rounds. The results were then summarised for each of the five participating Schools and discussed and agreed with the Dean's Offices and Faculty Councils. The Chief Gender Equality Officer and the Staff Council were also involved in the process.
