In our working group, we investigate learning and development processes in school contexts in order to develop evidence-based approaches to improving quality in education. Our empirical research focuses on school quality development, the professional development of teachers and the effects of school learning programmes on students.

The focus of our work is on the design and optimisation of learning and development processes in order to sustainably improve the quality of education in schools. We use modern methods of empirical educational research to generate evidence-based, practice-relevant findings that contribute to improving the quality of teaching and programmes and the school environment. We attach great importance to interdisciplinary co-operation and the transfer of scientific findings into educational practice. Our working group is internationally networked in order to introduce new perspectives and approaches into our own work and to work together on global challenges in the education system.

Another focus of our work is teacher training. We integrate the current state of educational research and our own research findings into the training of student teachers in order to prepare them as well as possible for the challenges of everyday school life.

With our work, we want to make a contribution to the further development of the education system and the promotion of equal opportunities. Through our research and teaching, we endeavour to have a positive influence on the design of schools and teaching and thus improve the learning conditions for pupils as well as the working conditions for those working in schools.
