The aims and tasks of the ‘Didactics of General Studies’ research group are to further develop and promote General Studies in primary schools through practice-oriented teaching in initial and further education, as well as research grounded in subject-specific didactics.

The research group focuses on teaching and learning processes in General Studies at various levels:

• Curriculum development
  What conditions within the school, amongst teaching staff or within organisational structures are conducive to supporting curriculum development in General Studies?
• Teachers
  What structures, resources and further education opportunities do teachers need in order to address and make the most of upcoming changes (digitalisation, inclusion, curriculum reforms, etc.)?
  What professional competences do teachers possess and utilise in their lesson planning and teaching, and what impact does this have on General Studies and the pupils?
• Pupils
  What learning prerequisites, attitudes and values do pupils bring to General Studies?
  How can pupils be supported and encouraged in their skills development?
• Analogue and digital teaching and learning resources
  How, for example, should pupil materials be designed to support pupils in developing their skills?
  What role do digital media play in teaching and learning processes?
