EARLY SoCoBrain

This project investigates the social-cognitive development of preterm infants.

This research project is being carried out in co-operation with the Psychological Methodology and Statistics research group, led by Prof. Dr Andrea Hildebrandt:

uol.de/psychologie

Our study aims to gather findings on the development of young children following preterm birth. This knowledge will subsequently be used to facilitate targeted early support for the cognitive (mental development) and socio-emotional skills (abilities to integrate into groups) of preterm infants, in order to prepare them, for example, for nursery or school.

As part of the EARLY SoCoBrain project, we are investigating how the development of facial perception and the understanding of speech from speaking faces in preterm infants aged 6 and 18 months (corrected age) relates to preterm birth.

The project is divided into four distinct studies, which will take place over a period of two years. Throughout this time, our team will provide ongoing support to the families and their children.
