Teaching Award 2007 - Outstanding teaching of young and old
Four academics awarded the "Teaching Prize"
On 19 December, 30-year-old special needs teacher Ann-Kathrin Schultz was awarded the "Teaching Prize" by the Vice President for Studies and Teaching, Prof. Dr Sabine Doering, for outstanding teaching in the 2006/07 academic year. The prize, which is awarded in a total of three categories, was also given to the business economists Prof. Dr Laurenz Lachnit (64) and Andreas Eiselt for the best coordinated module of the academic year. German studies graduate Dr Anne-Margret Wallrath-Janssen was honoured for her supervision of students and her individual commitment. In addition to prize money of €500 each, the award winners were also provided with earmarked personnel funds for teaching.
The "Teaching Prize" is one of the instruments of quality assurance, emphasised Doering at the award ceremony. Attractive and challenging courses and good supervision are the prerequisites for being able to release excellent graduates into the labour market.
Since1998, the University of Oldenburg has maintained the tradition of recognising exemplary achievements by university lecturers in teaching and supervision. The award winners are nominated by the students. The award is decided by a jury made up of professors and students. The prize is sponsored by the Universitäts-Gesellschaft Oldenburg (UGO) as well as the EWE Foundation and the Oldenburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
