With the Teaching Prize, the University of Oldenburg is focussing attention on the teaching and learning processes at the university. The award for outstanding university teaching is intended to publicly recognise the commitment of lecturers and at the same time serve as an incentive and role model. "Excellent teaching is just as important as excellent research. Both areas complement each other. Outstanding teaching ensures the quality of the education of our graduates and thus also advances research," emphasises Budde.
The University of Oldenburg has been honouring outstanding achievements by university lecturers in teaching and supervision since 1998. The nomination is made by the students. Teaching staff, students and the Oldenburg University Society (UGO) are represented on the jury that decides who receives the award.
The "Teaching Prize" 2011/12 is sponsored by the UGO.
