The prize should be an incentive to become more involved in teaching, emphasised Doering at the award ceremony. Attractive and challenging study programmes, good and clear teaching and dedicated supervision are the prerequisites for improving the career opportunities of graduates.
Since 1998, the University of Oldenburg has maintained the tradition of honouring outstanding achievements by university lecturers in teaching and supervision. The award winners are nominated by the students. A jury consisting of university lecturers, students and a representative of the Oldenburg University Society (UGO) decided on the award.
The 2006/2007 Teaching Prize was sponsored by the Universitätsgesellschaft Oldenburg e.V. and the EWE Foundation.
