The characteristic species of heath ponds and Lobelia geest lakes(Sparganium angustifolium, Isoëtes lacustris, Littorella uniflora and Lobelia dortmanna) are analysed at their last growth sites in
NW Germany with regard to ecological requirements and population structure. Among other things, the seed bank, population size and hydrochemical and hydrophysical parameters are recorded and experimental approaches (removal of topsoil or competing plants) are used to develop statements on endangerment and protection options.
