The Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Oldenburg seeks to fill a

W2 Professorship position in the field of "Modern Political Theory" (m/f/d)

from April 1, 2020.

The applicant must have a research focus in the field of positive political theory (e.g. new political economy, game theory or decision theory). Furthermore, candidates are expected to be experienced in at least one other area of modern political theory, such as analytical normative political theory (e.g. theories of justice or modern democracy theories) or the theory of science. Teaching responsibilities include the representation of political theory and modern political theory in its entire breadth (BA Social Sciences, BA Politics-Economics) as well as modern political theory with special consideration of interdisciplinary questions from the fields of environmental, technical and social sciences (MA Social Sciences)

The appointment is based on proven scientific excellence through peer-reviewed publications in the above-mentioned fields of work. Publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals and experience with the independent acquisition of third-party funds are assumed. Applicants are expected to be able to connect with the Institute of Social Sciences' theory-based empirical research priorities (knowledge, organization and inequalities) and to be willing to participate in the acquisition of coordinated research alliances (e.g. on the topics of digitization and sustainability). Since the Universities of Bremen and Oldenburg are linked by a cooperation agreement, active participation in the cooperation is expected.

Applicants must fulfil the requirements for professorship according to § 25 NHG. To increase the proportion of women in science, equally qualified female candidates will be given preference. Applicants with disabilities will be preferentially considered in case of equal qualification. The position is suitable for part-time employment.

Applications (including curriculum vitae, copies of credentials and certificates, a list of courses taught, lists of publications and external funding, past activities in teacher training) are to be submitted by June 20, 2019 both electronically (PDF) as well as in paper format to the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, for the attention of the Dean of Faculty I, 26111 Oldenburg,
