School VI of Medicine and Health Sciences comprises the fields of human medicine, medical physics and acoustics, neurosciences, psychology and health services research. Together with the four regional hospitals, School VI forms the University Medicine Oldenburg. Furthermore, there is close cooperation with the University Medicine of the University of Groningen.

The division of Health Economics (head of division: Prof. Dr. Lars Schwettmann) at the Department of Health Services Research seeks as soon as possible an

Research Associate (m/f/d)
(Salary according to TV-L E13, 75%) with a temporary contract until 30.09.2027.

There is the possibility of personal scientific qualification [binational German-Dutch doctoral thesis].

The position is part of the EU-funded German-Dutch cooperation project "Pain in the Ems-Dollard-Region, a hidden disease with extensive consequences (PED)". The project is carried out in collaboration with the Pain Centre at the Department of Anaesthesiology of the University Medical Centre Groningen and numerous other partners in Germany and the Netherlands. The aim of the project is to inform people in the German-Dutch border region how to prevent chronic pain, but also how affected pain patients can be treated better. To this end, in cooperation with a media company, a campaign will be developed, implemented and analysed in terms of its impact and costs. For this we are looking for someone to support the project.

Tasks include:

  • Participation in planning, implementation and evaluation of the campaign in close co-operation with project partners on the German and Dutch side
  • Presentation of results at national and international (expert) events
  • Preparation of scientific manuscripts

Recruitment requirements:

  • Completed scientific university degree (Diploma (Uni)/ Master in the field of public health, sports science, health economics or a related degree programme)
  • Good written and spoken German and English skills
  • Basic knowledge in the field of intervention evaluation
  • Experience in the quantitative analysis of survey data using advanced statistical programmes (e.g. SAS, STATA or R)

Desired qualifications:

  • Practical or research experience related to the prevention or treatment of musculoskeletal impairments and/or pain
  • Experience in interdisciplinary cooperation, especially with medical partners
  • Basic publication experience in national or international journals
  • Knowledge of the Dutch language
