PJ in general medicine in our PJ practices
Practical year (PJ) in general practice
Are you considering doing your PJ elective in general practice? We at the Department of General Practice naturally welcome this and are happy to welcome any student who would like to complete their PJ elective in a GP practice!
The special thing about us in Oldenburg is that all teaching physicians are required to attend several special training courses in order to be optimally equipped to supervise students. The training courses are designed and organised by our department.
Before becoming a PJ teaching doctor in Oldenburg, you must have already successfully supervised students in practice several times. In addition, some of the teaching physicians have been involved since the foundation of the model degree programme in human medicine and have played a key role in its planning. You will therefore be supervised by very experienced and committed doctors. We can therefore proudly report extremely positive re-registering student feedback from our first PJ students in General Medicine.
We will also support you as mentors during your time in the GP practice and hold regular discussions with you. A personal visit to the practice is also part of the supervision.
As a PJ tertial in a GP practice is largely based on a good relationship with the practice team and offers almost one-to-one supervision, we have not yet allocated the places. Both the practice team and the student should have clarified in advance whether they are a good match.
If you are already sure that you want to choose general medicine as an elective subject, please contact a PJ practice. Enquire about your preferred period and ideally spend a day as an intern. Please let us know when you have reached an agreement for our planning. This can all be done very early on. The prerequisite for the PJ is, of course, that you have successfully passed the second State Examination.
You also have the opportunity to take part in online and face-to-face seminars organised by KANN(www.kann-niedersachsen.de). This offers you the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of general medical diagnoses and counselling.
However, like all other students, you must register via the PJ portal. In the PJ portal, you do not have the option of selecting a specific practice, but simply enter general medicine as an elective subject.
General information about the PJ, further contact persons and the registration formalities can be found on the website of the Model Degree Programme in Human Medicine - Practical Year: uol.de/modellstudiengang-humanmedizin/praktisches-jahr. Mrs Jana Deppermann is responsible for you in the Dean of Studies Office.
If you have specific questions about general medicine, please contact our department.
Kind regards
Dr Markus Ennen
