Gardener gardening and landscaping
In the GaLaBau specialisation, trainees at the Botanical Garden deal with the following topics, among others:
- Acquiring knowledge of all plants growing outdoors (trees, shrubs, perennials, grasses, ferns, etc.)
- All work in the area of path construction and civil engineering, such as the construction of paved surfaces and drainage of traffic areas
- Installation of paving stones, slabs, edging stones, palisades, wall stones
- Treatment and processing of natural stone (dry stone walls, paving), wooden components (wooden walkways, pergolas) and metal (fencing, aviaries)
- Environmentally conscious and careful handling of machines (wheel loader, mini excavator) and equipment (chainsaw, hedge trimmers)
In order to comprehensively cover all important areas of training, the Botanical Garden co-operates with landscaping companies in the surrounding area. There, the trainees can consolidate what they have learnt in several internships during the entire training period and learn new things that may be neglected in the Botanical Garden.
