This non-public part of the Botanical Garden is located in the immediate vicinity of the natural science university buildings in Oldenburg-Wechloy.

Its main task is to provide areas for research work and to supply various courses with plant material.

There is a greenhouse facility with various climate zones, a wire hall, cold frames, experimental areas and a cutting garden for botanical identification exercises.

Our apprentices specialising in perennial gardening learn at the Wechloy site. They grow the plants that are later planted out in the public part of the Botanical Garden.
