University and science management
Managing academic and scientific organisations professionally
The programme imparts skills in the planning, development and management of universities and other scientific and research institutions. The further education programme with 30 credit points is completed in three semesters and concludes with the internationally recognised Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS). You combine three modules to determine an individual specialisation. The following modules are available for selection:
University and science management
The University and Science Management module teaches skills for managing and organising scientific institutions. Participants learn how actors, interest groups and organisational units interact.
Governance and university law
The module teaches governance approaches and control options at various levels in universities. Legal, political, scientific and economic framework conditions are covered. Compliance management is also addressed.
Management of studies, teaching and further education
In the Management of Studies, Teaching and Further Education module, participants learn how lifelong learning can be implemented at universities. Against the background of the Bologna reform, it deals with models of university access and the recognition of academic appointments.
Research and transfer management
The Research and Transfer Management module teaches how research can be organised effectively, efficiently and responsibly. Participants expand their methodological and professional expertise and learn about transfer methods.
Science communication
The module on science communication focuses in particular on digital media. The design and development of communication concepts for universities are analysed on the basis of best practice and the participants' own examples.
Digital university
The Digital University module teaches how academic institutions can prepare themselves for the digital transformation. It is about concrete strategies, suitable structures, well thought-out resource allocation and professional management.
