PD Dr Wolfgang Müskens has been a researcher at the Institute of Education at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg since 2001.

Wolfgang Müskens studied psychology at the Universities of Düsseldorf and Koblenz-Landau. He gained his doctorate in 2001 in the field of personality research.

Since then, he has worked at Faculty I (Education and Social Sciences) at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, and since 2018 also at the Centre for Open Education Research (COER). There he is involved in several projects on the digitalisation of teaching and learning at universities.

Since 2013, Dr Müskens has headed the Competence Centre for Credit Transfer, which is involved in numerous research and development projects on the transfer of vocational competences to university degree programmes. Since 2017, he has been the academic head of the PLAR Service (Prior Learning and Recognition) at the University of Oldenburg.

In 2019, he completed his habilitation in educational science with a focus on "Lifelong Learning / Continuing Education".

His research and work focus on the design of open educational programmes, the assessment and modelling of competences and the quality assurance of OER (Open Educational Resources). He is the (co-)author of numerous psychometric test and measurement instruments.
