1st Master's graduation ceremony for GHR graduates
On 12 December 2008, the first graduates of the new "Master of Education" degree programme with the career goal of teaching at primary, secondary and intermediate schools were given a ceremonial send-off in the lecture hall centre of the University of Oldenburg. Of the 140 students who originally started the programme a year ago, a total of 98 students have now received their master's degree certificates. In her welcoming address, the Vice President for Studies and Teaching, Prof. Dr Sabine Doering, paid particular tribute to the commitment and courage of the students in helping to shape the new study structures of the Bologna era. The conditions of the pioneer generation were not always easy. On behalf of the Didactic Centre, its Vice Director, Prof. Dr Michael Komorek, warmly congratulated the graduates on their successful completion of their studies. Representatives from the School then honoured and awarded prizes for outstanding Master's theses. The following graduates were honoured for their Master's theses:

  • Education and Social Sciences:
Britta Groeneveld, Kerstin Meyer, Susanne Mayer
  • School of Computing Science, Economics and Law:
Rainer Heusmann and Birgit Diekmann, Nico Gillner and Ulf Düselder
  • School of Linguistics and Cultural Studies:
Anke Theiler, Julia Geßelmann and Moritz Uibel
  • School of Humanities and Social Sciences:
    Martina Langen
  • School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences:

The university's jazz ensemble and the cheerful cabaret duo Eberlei & Fuhrmann (see photo) provided the supporting programme for the ceremony. Bild A champagne reception in the foyer of the lecture hall centre brought the university ceremony to a cheerful close in the company of the graduates, many lecturers and numerous guests.
