In order to take forward the planning and application process for a DFG Research Training Group, the following measures are currently planned within the ‘ Futures of Care in Bildung ’ cluster:

1. A series of lectures titled ‘ „Interrogating Care in Contexts of Bildung“ ’, which will take place in the winter semester 2026/27 at the University of Lüneburg (UOL) in the BIS Hall from Tuesday 1 December 2026, and which will apply care-based, relationship-oriented perspectives to society and school practice. Six speakers have been secured: Prof. Dr Markus Dederich (University of Cologne), Prof. Dr Cornelie Dietrich (Humboldt University of Berlin), Prof. Dr Saphira Shure (University of Bielefeld), Prof. Dr Juliane Jarke (Karl-Franzens University of Graz), Dr Anna Hartmann and Prof. Dr Nadine Rose (University of Bremen).

2. The interdisciplinary kick-off workshop ‘Mapping the Field: International Perspectives on Care’ will take place in mid-February 2027 at the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg in Delmenhorst and will bring together experts from (international) research on care and practice theory. The focus will be on a critical examination of the research cluster’s proposed project‘Futures of Care in Education’, as well as on the theoretical refinement of a concept of care in educational science grounded in cultural and practice theory, with a particular focus on school and out-of-school educational contexts. The two-day workshop not only promotes co-operation between the University of Oldenburg and the University of Bremen within the framework of the Northwest Alliance, but also strengthens the cluster’s networking within the research community.
