As part of the four-semester Master of Education degree programmes for primary school teachers and secondary school teachers(GHR 300) introduced throughout the state in winter semester 2014/15, a regional network has been implemented at all Lower Saxony university locations offering these teaching qualifications to support the implementation and execution of the so-called practical phase. The members of the regional network are representatives of the university, a representative of the management of the cooperating study seminars, at least one representative of the Lower Saxony state education authority and one headteacher each from the primary and lower secondary school sectors. The regional network is managed and coordinated by the University of Oldenburg, which also invites students to the meetings.

The task of the regional network is to implement all co-operation structures relevant to the content and operation of the actors in the practical phase in the long term. Relevant topics in connection with the implementation and realisation of the practical phase - including any difficulties that arise during the process - are discussed and coordinated in the regional network. In this way, the regional network is actively involved in the design and implementation of the practical phase as part of the GHR 300.

The legal basis for this is the so-called agreement between the participating universities, the MWK and the MK on the implementation of a practical phase in the four-semester Master's degree programmes for the teaching profession at primary schools and the teaching profession at Hauptschulen and Realschulen.
