Perceptual-geographical studies
Studies in perceptual geography
The previous series "Wahrnehmungsgeographische Studien zur Regionalentwicklung" will be continued as "Wahrnehmungsgeographische Studien". On the one hand, this is intended to signal a greater openness towards different scientific approaches, for which the series offers itself as a forum for the human scientific discussion of complex human-environment relationships. On the other hand, the aim is to achieve a clear profile: Subjectivity in the process of perception is to be valorised as an object of scientific reflection. Ways of understanding the world as intellectual cognition and sensual encounter, which the social sciences neglect in their mainstream, will take centre stage.
The works appearing in the series have their theoretical location in human geography and at its transdisciplinary edges. The programmatic attention to the rationally formative and emotionally experiencing subject is linked to theoretical preferences: in terms of scientific theory in favour of theory pluralism and in terms of research methodology in favour of the hermeneutic paradigm. The series is open to theory-orientated, empirical, application- and planning-related work.
