PRACTICAL TASK
Choose one of the three linked images.
Selection of topics:

Create a collection of at least ten images based on one of these images. At least five of the images must be your own work (drawing, painting, print, collage, sculpture, object, installation, photography, film, performance). Three-dimensional works and performances must be documented either photographically or on film in the form of an accompanying DVD (max. 3 mins). The collection of images may draw on motifs from film, print and online media, your everyday life or the world of art.
The collection should not exceed DIN A4 size.
THEORETICAL ASSIGNMENT
Choose one of the following three tasks and write an essay on it. The theoretical essay must be submitted in paper format (DIN A4) with a maximum of 8,000 characters including spaces (equivalent to approx. 3 pages).
Selection of topics:
1. Comment on a review of a current exhibition or a film of your choice.
2. Write an essay on a work of art which, in your opinion, deals with the theme of politics.
3. Based on one of the three linked images, write a dialogue between two people, one of whom cannot see the image and is unfamiliar with it.
Admission to the Bachelor’s degree programme in ‘Art and Media’ is governed by admissions regulations (PDF). These stipulate that an entrance examination is required for the ‘Art and Media’ subject.
The entrance examination consists of a practical and a theoretical task, which applicants must complete independently and submit the results to us by post (see address below).
The examination papers (written and practical),
the application form ( available here) and
the tabular CV
should each be submitted in duplicate (reproductions/copies). Please do not send originals, as we are unfortunately unable to return the examination papers.
In accordance with the admissions regulations, the following criteria form the basis for the assessment of both parts of the examination: ability to articulate, capacity for reflection and independence.
We do not require your A-level certificate; you must submit this to the Admissions office when you enrol!
