The textbook collection of the Institute for German Studies includes all German textbooks currently authorised in Lower Saxony (including teacher handouts) as well as selected historical German books (from the early 1960s onwards), plus other teaching materials and tests for language level diagnostics.

The collection is available to students and teachers in the field of German didactics for teaching and research.

Created through private donations since the late 1990s and gradually expanded through the acquisition of new publications from the relevant publishers, constant updating is ensured by an agreement between the Institute for German Studies and the University Library.

It is fascinating to look at the constant change in this medium: not only in terms of the visual design, the often strongly time-bound text selection and the immanent guidance through tasks, but also - and this makes it significant for the training of teachers - with regard to the respective reflection of didactic discourses.
