At the University of Oldenburg, the teaching degree programme is offered as a polyvalent (literally: multi-value) Bachelor's degree programme. This means that students can follow a Master of Education degree programme or a specialised Master's degree programme after completing their Bachelor's degree or enter professional practice.

If the aim is to become a teacher, the combination of subjects prescribed by the state of Lower Saxony for the respective school types, which are a prerequisite for the Master of Education, must be observed.

Due to the polyvalent orientation of the Bachelor's programme, students can make adjustments to the orientation of their own studies during their studies through their decisions (combination of subjects, choice of modules, internship placement, etc.) and also check whether the teaching profession is the right choice.
