DIVERSITY IN EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC EDUCATION (VIMUBI)
The project has been completed. The results of this project and the"MuBiKi" project were published in the publication"Musik in der Kita - inklusiv und kooperativ".
Evaluation of a professional field-expanding qualification for educational professionals on inclusion (diversity) in the field of early childhood music education, co-operation project with the Landesverband niedersächsischer Musikschulen e.V. and the Agentur für Erwachsenen- und Weiterbildung (Agency for Adult and Further Education) (funded by the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony).
Everyday life in day-care centres is increasingly determined by the great heterogeneity of the children and the educational professionals working in the centres have to cope with ever new tasks and challenges in their fields of work.
Music appeals to all sensory perceptions and offers itself as an ideal, unifying means for everyday educational work in the day-care centre. By singing, making music and dancing together, all children, regardless of mental or physical disabilities and across all linguistic and ethnic boundaries, can be addressed, included in group processes and encouraged. The individual requirements, abilities and needs of the children must take centre stage. Educational professionals should therefore always consider the aspects of diversity and make them the basis of their educational activities.
The aim of this qualification is to support educators and music education specialists in the elementary sector who work together in the field of early childhood education and to plan and implement diverse musical programmes in a team-oriented manner. Practical testing and sustainable transfer to the daycare centre play a central role in this.
The qualification was offered for the first time from April to October 2014 at four locations in Lower Saxony. It consisted of a total of four weekends, during which the topic of inclusion was taught in a practical way through the use of voice and language as well as through movement, elementary instrumental playing and improvisation. Self-study phases and the planning and realisation of specific projects were also part of the qualification.
