Jürgen Sauer: Research topics
My research focuses on topics in the two areas of"Intelligent Planning in Supply Chains" and"IT Management (for Data Centres)".
- Intelligent planning in supply chains
Planning and scheduling problems from different application environments, primarily from the field of logistics. In particular, I am investigating the possible applications of AI processes and the problems that arise through the integration of planning systems, e.g. in the supply chain.
Previous activities include intelligent planning systems in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries (with Sandoz and Hoechst), in tube production and cardiac surgery. There was also a co-operation project with SIMTech (Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology) to develop a multi-site scheduling system. Other topics include
- energy-efficient production planning
- reactive transport planning
- personnel scheduling.
I also represent these topics in the GI specialist group"Planning/Scheduling and Configuration/Design".
Further information in English
- IT Management (for Data Centres)
Issues relating to the management of large application systems, e.g. in Data Centres. The focus here is on architecture and technical aspects. Important topics are:
- Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM)
- Intelligent Monitoring
- IT Service Management (ITSM).
