The 47th KLGH (Conference of Lecturers in Education for People with Intellectual Disabilities at Universities in German-speaking Countries), with the theme ‘Special Educational Needs: A Shift in the Focus on Intellectual Development?!’ took place from 4 to 6 June 2026 at the University of Regensburg.
Our colleagues Dr Sarah Laßmann, Katharina Kuhlmann, Barbara Klaus-Karwisch, Franziska Brucke, Jette Schreiber, Dr Jan Jochmaring and Prof. Teresa Sansour were able to gain a wide range of professional insights at this conference and exchange views with colleagues on key issues in special educational needs research within the area of intellectual development.
We are delighted that our colleagues from the GE specialist group, including the following topics, contributed to the proceedings.
As part of a poster presentation, Jette Schreiber presented her PhD project on the topic: ‘More than just small talk?! Informal conversational opportunities for teachers specialising in intellectual development – An ethnographic research study of collegial communication in everyday educational practice’.
Dr Jan Jochmaring and Prof. Dr Teresa Sansour organised the panel ‘The school-to-work transition for pupils in special educational needs with a focus on intellectual development – persistence or change?’, during which they provided important insights through, amongst other things, two individual presentations:
