Our candidates
1. Markus Glötzel
I have been working at Carl von Ossietzky University since 2005, and since 2018 as an MTV in the Office for University and Trade Union Co-operation; I am currently on secondment as deputy Chair of the Main Staff Council at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MWK), a position to which I was elected via the joint list of the ver.di and GEW trade unions.
I am standing for election to the University Senate in order to continue to monitor the development of our university in a critical yet constructive manner and to ensure that the interests of MTV staff are not sidelined.
2. Nadja Sturm
Since 2011, I have been working in School IV in the offices of the Institute for Protestant Theology and the Institute of Philosophy. Over the past few years, I have gained a great deal of experience in committee work, for example on two institute councils, the Faculty Council and the University Senate.
It is important to me to play an active and positive role in shaping developments at our university on behalf of us at MTV. Given the growing shift to the right in our society, which is also evident at our university, I consider strong trade union representation to be indispensable.
3. Timm Behrendt
I have been employed at the university in School IV, in the Office of the Institute of Philosophy, since 2006.
I am standing for election to the University Senate because I believe that having a trade union-oriented representative in this important body, acting in the interests of all staff, makes sense.
4. Carsten Bauer
I have been working in the library in various roles since 1999. In my spare time, I go sailing on the North Sea – hence the photo :-)
I joined a DGB trade union back in 1980, when I was 16. There will always be people who claim that trade unions have had their day and are blocking urgently needed reforms. The library holds a number of works on neoliberal, national-liberal or national-conservative economics in its collection. However, there are even more works that deal with socialist, social-liberal or green theories, or with the utopian visions we so desperately need. Another world is possible. Here at this university, too, we can help shape it through the University Senate!
5. Martin Niemeyer
I have been employed at the university since 2011 as a maintenance technician in Division 4.
I am currently on secondment to the Staff Council, where I was elected First Deputy Chair in the summer of 2024.
The University of Oldenburg can only function as a team; even in the University Senate, staff in lower pay bands must not be forgotten.
Amidst the university’s constant change, I wish to represent the interests of my MTV colleagues in the University Senate.
12. Regina Grundmann
I work as a chemical engineering assistant at the ICBM within Faculty V. I have been working at the university since 1979 and have been a member of Ver.di since 1980.
Whether on the Faculty Council or the institute council, as a MAK spokesperson or as a staff representative, it has always been a priority for me to champion the interests of staff.
In the University Senate, I see an opportunity to represent the concerns of my colleagues in a way that goes beyond individual, personal matters.
This is about the fundamental direction of our university, and I have always found this ‘broader perspective’ fascinating.
13. Thomas Schneeberg
I have been at the university since 2004 and hold two part-time posts: LfbA in the area of project management and programme coordinator at C3L, where I have been on secondment to the Staff Council since 2018 and have served as its Chair since 2023.
It is very important to me to represent the interests of the MTV more strongly in the University Senate. In the wake of digitalisation and the planned Excellence Strategy, many changes are on the horizon, and it is particularly important that the interests of lower-paid staff are taken into account.
