The 10th Early-Career Researchers’ Colloquium of the Association for Low German Linguistic Research (VndS) will take place at the University of Oldenburg from 4 to 6 October 2021. Over the past ten years, the VndS Young Researchers’ Colloquium has established itself as a successful forum for exchange amongst early-career researchers working on the Low German language and literature, as well as related topics. This year, the conference will be held online for the second time.

The range of subjects covered is broad and includes not only papers on the Low German language area but also those on other regional language areas of German. Proposals are welcome on dialectology, regional language research and historical linguistics, as well as presentations in literary and cultural studies on older and more recent Low German literature and that of other regions, provided that dialectal aspects form part of the research question. Topics primarily concerned with theory and methodology will also be included in the conference’s cross-linguistic discussion.

All types of projects, from advanced student work to postdoctoral research projects, are warmly invited to participate. Both completed studies and works currently in progress may be presented. We particularly invite students to present their final-year or research projects!

Presentations will last 20 minutes, with an additional ten minutes set aside for discussion. Proposals for presentations (title and an abstract of no more than 500 words) should be submitted by 15 July 2021 to the email address You are also warmly invited to attend without presenting a paper.
