From weak coupling limits for degenerate Schrödinger operators to Schrödinger operators with complex potentials
We prove weak coupling asymptotics for eigenvalues of Schrödinger operators with kinetic energies degenerating on hypersurfaces and short-range potentials. Such operators arise, e.g., in the BCS theory of superconductivity or the study of the electron gas in metals. Our main technical tool is the Stein-Tomas Fourier restriction theorem. We expect that the eigenvalue asymptotics hold also for many long range potentials in view the occurrence of Fourier restriction to prove eigenvalue estimates of Schrödinger operators with complex potentials.
