DiDiER

DiDiER

Background

Dietary counselling is primarily based on the interaction between a patient and a nutritionist. However digitalization is more and more present in the service industry, technical support is hardly used in the process of the dietary counselling. So far the nutritionist applies experience and expert knowledge to the patient’s data in order to identify possible nutrition related problems. Usually, this data is recorded manually and does exist in a paper version. Sometimes transfer and collection of necessary information between stakeholders is time consuming and even impossible. Therefore the DidiER tool should improve this process by technical support.

Approach

The goal of the DiDiER project is to improve services in the field of dietary counselling by digitising information. Thereby counselling intensity is increased and workflows for the service provider are improved. The project will develop an IT-based support system for dietary counselling, covering two use cases, facilitation and support of the work of nutritionists involved in the care of geriatric patients, especially of those with frailty and in ambulatory allergological nutrition counselling. One of the project’s significant features is the use of a secure home cloud system that allows to keep the user’s sensitive data under his or her personal control at all times.

The DidiER project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education Research (BMBF) between 08/2016 and 07/2019.
