Dissertation (thesis defence in July 2004)

"Time for a primary school with all children - Didactic reconstruction of time for inclusive subject teaching"

Inclusive teaching has been practised in primary schools for thirty years now. Nevertheless, there are still no didactic concepts or practical materials for inclusive (subject) teaching available to teachers.

This research desideratum was addressed in the dissertation. Based on the research model of didactic reconstruction, a first building block for inclusive didactics of subject teaching in the "primary school for all children" was developed with the learning field of time.

The survey of the views of different children - from 'severely disabled' to 'severely gifted' - on the phenomenon of time carried out within this framework not only shows that children have a far more comprehensive view of time than they have previously been given credit for, but also that separate concepts for 'normal' and 'special' children are didactically ineffective. As a result, a framework concept for the theoretical foundation of an inclusive didactics of general knowledge teaching is formulated and translated into concrete didactic advice on the learning field of time in inclusive general knowledge teaching.
