Dr Claude Draude
Short vita
Claude Draude is a cultural scientist and sociologist with an additional qualification in gender studies. Her research interests include Science and Technology Studies (STS), Feminist Technoscience, human-machine interaction/cultural interfaces and AI, as well as the history of science and epistemological foundations of Computing Science. She is particularly concerned with the co-construction of gender, knowledge and technology, analysing both the cultural-historical background and the possibility of future interventions. She also works at the interface of academic and artistic practice on the relationship between materiality, embodiment, image and text in the form of site-specific installations, performative works and experimental set-ups.
Claude Draude's doctoral thesis on anthropomorphic computer interfaces was supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG) as part of the Research Training Group "Gender as a Category of Knowledge" at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. The transdisciplinary project was completed at the Department of Media Studies at Ruhr University Bochum.
Until the end of 2013, Claude Draude worked in the 'Sociotechnical Systems and Gender' working group at the Department of Mathematics/Computing Science in the "informattraktiv" project at the University of Bremen. Since 2014, she has been working in the team of the Maria Goeppert-Mayer Professorship "Gender, Technology and Mobility" at the Technical University of Braunschweig, initially in the project "GenderING. Gender Studies in the Engineering Sciences" and from 2015 to December 2016 in the Computing Science sub-project of the project "Gender Knowledge in and between the Disciplines".
