Dr rer. nat. Smilla Ebeling
Short vita
Smilla Ebeling is a science researcher. Her research and teaching focus on gender and science studies, science studies, animal studies and museum research.
After studying biology, Smilla Ebeling completed her doctorate in the history of science at the Technical University of Braunschweig in 2001; she wrote her dissertation in the DFG Research Training Group Genesis, Structures and Consequences of Science and Technology at the Institute for Science and Technology Studies, Bielefeld University. Smilla Ebeling has worked as a research assistant and guest researcher at various universities: Centre For Advanced Feminist Studies at the University of Minnesota (Winter 1998/1999), International Women's University(ifu) at the University of Hanover (Summer 2000), Historical Seminar of the TU Braunschweig in the project Mathematics of Life - Constitution and Gender Coding of a New Concept of Life through Artificial Life Research (2001 - 2002), Centre for Gender Studies at the University of Basel (2002 - 2003) and Institute of Material Culture, School III, University of Oldenburg in the research project New Heritage Museums as Institutions of Knowledge Production (2013 - 2015). From 2003 - 2009, Smilla Ebeling worked as a junior and associate professor for Gender, Biotechnologies and Society: Body Discourses and Gender Constructions at the Institute of Sociology and at the Institute of Cultural Studies: ART - TEXTILE - MEDIA at the University of Oldenburg. In addition, Smilla Ebeling has taught as a lecturer, lecturer and visiting professor at various institutes at universities in Linz, Salzburg, Graz, Zurich and Hamburg. In the non-academic field, Smilla Ebeling ran the cultural café café munck (Hamburg; 2011 - 2012).
