Studied art history, empirical cultural studies and education in Würzburg and Tübingen; 1999 doctorate in art history at the University of Tübingen; 2005 habilitation at the University of Hamburg; 2009-2012 Heisenberg Fellow at the University of Oldenburg; deputy professorships at the Universities of Hamburg, Zurich and Munich (LMU), among others; since 2015 working on the project "Gender Knowledge in and between the Disciplines".
