Application
Study
The National Dong Hwa University is located in the east of Taiwan in the city of Shoufeng and was merged in 2008 from several universities: the National Dong Hwa University (founded in 1994) and the National Hualien University of Education (founded in 1947).
Shoufeng is located on the Pacific coast of Taiwan and consists of three parts. In the west, it is part of the Huatung Valley, which runs parallel to the coast. To the east, it comprises a strip of Pacific coastline about 23 kilometres long. Both parts are separated by the Haian mountain range, which also runs parallel to the coast.
More than 10,000 students study at NDHU in over 200 study programmes. A total of 870 (as of 2018) international students give the beautifully situated campus a multicultural flair. Oldenburg students have the opportunity to study at a total of 8 colleges, which are divided into all fields of study (College of Humanities and Social Sciences; College of Management; College of Indigenous Studies; College of Environmental Studies; College of Science and Engineering; Hua-Shih College of Education; College of the Arts; College of Marine Sciences).
Oldenburg students can choose from all courses at NDHU if the relevant requirements are met (will be checked individually by NDHU). You can view the relevant courses on the NDHU website to get an overview.

Everyday life
A popular destination for students is Liyu Lake (also known as "Carp Lake") in the village of Chinam, which is the largest lake in Hualien County, covering an area of around 104 hectares and set in a beautiful landscape between mountains. In summer, swarms of fireflies can be observed above the lake. The Chinam Forest Recreation Area is located on the eastern slopes of Chinam Village. This used to be a transport centre for the timber industry and the old facilities (cableways etc.) can be visited or have been converted for tourist purposes. In the village of Fengli, a cultural and historical museum has been opened in a former police station to commemorate the period of Japanese rule.
All students are guaranteed accommodation on campus. This costs around 330 US dollars per semester. In addition to shared flats of four with individual bathrooms, there is also the option of moving into a single room, although you have to share the bathroom with another student (shared room).
