Experience & Skills
I am a chemist with a particular interest in natural products, metabolomics and chemical ecology. In my research, I use mass spectrometric techniques, in particular LC-MS-based metabolomics, to study bioactive metabolites and chemical interactions between organisms and their associated microorganisms.
In recent years, I have mainly focused on amphibians, investigating the metabolic diversity of their skin and associated microbial communities and their potential role in ecological interactions and host defence.
I am now very excited to expand my research to marine organisms and marine natural products. Marine environments harbour an incredible and still largely unexplored chemical diversity with enormous ecological and biotechnological potential. I am particularly interested in understanding how marine organisms utilise metabolites in their interactions and how metabolomic approaches can help us to better understand and protect marine ecosystems.
