Allgemeine Informationen zum Fachmaster

1st sem. AS Inf AS Inf AS Inf AS WI AS WiWi
2nd sem. Project group AS Inf AS WI AS WiWi
3rd semester AS WI AS WI AS WiWi
4th semester Master's thesis module
(MPO 2017 version)

Of course, a different order of the modules is also possible, but content and time dependencies should be taken into account in the selection. The number of modules per semester is also flexible, but you should always consider the resulting workload and any effects on the duration of your studies. If full-time study is not an option for you, the Master's programme can also be studied part-time.

  • The specialisation modules in Computing Science (AS Inf), Business Informatics (AS WI) and Economics (AS WiWi) can be taken freely according to your individual interests from the catalogue of courses in the degree programme or according to the recommendations of a specialisation area. A total of 48 CP must be chosen from the area of practical or applied Computing Science (AS Inf), whereby at least 24 CP must be taken from Business Information Systems (AS WI). A total of 18 CP must be taken from the field of economics.
  • Every student on a Master's degree programme must form a project group project group. This is a form of course in which you work independently in a team of six to twelve students on a challenging software or hardware development task from the definition of requirements to the completion of the product.
If you are planning to study abroad, the project group can be replaced by two research projects on proposal.
  • The Master's thesis module consists of the Master's thesis, an accompanying colloquium and a final colloquium open to the public at the university. As part of the colloquium, you present the topic you are working on at the beginning and the results at the end of your thesis.
  • For lateral entrants who wish to take up a Master's degree programme despite not having a (fully) relevant Bachelor's degree, modules from the Bachelor's degree in Business Informatics can be imposed as a requirement to make up for missing Bachelor's knowledge. In these cases, the admissions committee will individually determine the modules to be taken, which must then be successfully completed in the first year of study.
