Counselling and help in special situations

Personalised advice

If you are missing information or would like individual counselling, our subject advisors will be happy to help you.

Part-time study

It is also possible to study part-time.

You can find the application form and the part-time regulations of the University of Oldenburg at uol.de/studium/studierendenstatus.

Your academic advisor must advise you on part-time study to ensure the best possible selection of modules and sign the proposal. You must submit the proposal to the Admissions office when you re-register as a student. Only first-semester students can submit the proposal later.

The form only asks for the reasons for part-time study for statistical reasons - these are not relevant for approval.

Allowances for special needs

Studying with disabilities

For students with a health impairment, there are extensive support services and information on Allowances for special needs, management of studies, practical help as well as laws and recommendations.

You can find these at https://uol.de/studium/behindert-chronisch-kranke-studierende

Allowances for special needs for pregnant students

As a pregnant or breastfeeding mother, you are also entitled to special protection as a student.

If you belong to the risk group of pregnant or breastfeeding women and attend courses that may require such protection, please contact Dec. 3, the Examinations Office, to obtain a risk assessment and approval for the course. Without authorisation, participation is unfortunately NOT possible if you belong to the risk group.

Please also contact your academic advisor or the Equal Opportunities Officer at the DfI to discuss the possibilities of a disadvantage waiver that would allow you to participate in such events in a modified form.

You can find further information on your protective rights as a pregnant woman at https://uol.de/studium/mutterschutz-studentinnen

DfI policy paper against discrimination and on social responsibility

We act

  • We actively assume our share of responsibility for the society in which we live.
  • In an interconnected world, challenges can only be solved through peaceful international cooperation. We resolutely oppose any form of nationalism.
  • We are committed to ensuring that people are not disadvantaged or defamed because of their skin colour, origin, religion, gender or sexual orientation.
  • We are not prepared to tolerate discussions that are fact-free or based on resentment.

What to do in case of discrimination?

Do not ignore and suppress discrimination, but take a stand:
