Master theses

Master theses

All members of the department supervise MA theses in educational science in the Master of Education programme. BA theses cannot be written in the educational sciences. General information on Master's theses can be found here.

Selection of examiners: Please refer to the staff members' pages for information on their work and research focus. These are either explicitly listed. However, you can also find them out from the literature lists and courses. If possible, select examiners who match your intended subject area and planned methodological approach. We are happy to supervise work that ties in with our current research focus on creativity and learning as well as visualisation.

Enquiry: If you ask lecturers to supervise your Master's thesis, this should be done on the basis of an initial brainstorming session. When you make contact with potential supervisors, enclose a document with a collection of ideas with your enquiry email. If you already have concrete thematic plans, it is best to write a short synopsis (1-2 pages). This should contain

1. research question = what are you interested in? Which topics does your research touch on and which not? Actually formulate a question with a question mark.

2. research field = Where do you want to conduct your research?

3. research method = How do you want to proceed with your research and which scientific methods do you want to use?

4. literature = What literature have you already looked at and what do you draw on?

Initial consultation: In an initial consultation, we will discuss with you the limitations, perspectives or alternatives for your Master's thesis. We will advise you on your research question, a research field, a suitable method and suitable literature.
