Project groups
The project group is a speciality of the Computing Science degree programme in Oldenburg. It consists of 6-12 participants who work on a closed task over a period of one year.
Participation in the project group conveys many things that can hardly be taught explicitly. No other form of event is likely to be closer to later professional practice. The main arguments in favour of a project group are: the intensive teamwork, in which completely new experiences and problems arise; the need for long-term project and time management; the satisfaction of dealing with a topic not only as an example, but comprehensively and with full commitment, especially as the benefits and applicability of the results are usually obvious; the stronger personal bond with the lecturers, with the result that the topic of the project group often leads to a final thesis.
