Good academic practice
(Commission and ombudsman system)
General information
Scientific honesty and compliance with the principles of good academic practice are
indispensable prerequisites for scientific work that aims to gain knowledge for the benefit of
society. The following principles of good academic practice
are based on the 2019 guidelines of the German Research Foundation. The application and
dissemination of the principles, some of which are discipline-specific, must be ensured within the framework
of scientific research and teaching. The university communicates these rules for good
academic practice to its members and members of all status groups
and obliges them to comply with them in a comprehensible manner, taking into account the specifics of the
relevant subject area. Every scientifically active person bears the
responsibility for ensuring that their own behaviour complies with the standards of good academic practice
and stands up for them. Teaching the fundamentals of good scientific work
begins as early as possible in academic teaching and scientific
training.
