Background

The distributed file system NFSv4 does not yet support the replication of files sufficiently.

Job description

Within the scope of the work, an existing, universal framework for data replication is to be integrated into the distributed file system Network File System Version 4 (NFSv4). General Strucutred Voting (GSV) serves as the replication framework. GSV enables user-transparent replication on a file basis in accordance with a special data structure describing the replication strategy. The practicability of the solution created is to be underpinned by experiments, among other things. The cost/benefit aspect is to be demonstrated and evaluated using suitable comparative measurements with non-replicated files.
