Electromobility showcase

Lower Saxony Electromobility Showcase - ICT Services - Customer-orientated mobility

The national showcases for electromobility, which are funded by the German government to the tune of €180 million, aim to record innovative developments in the field of electromobility and accelerate their introduction into everyday life. Four showcases in Lower Saxony, Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Berlin were selected from twenty applications. They will run until the end of 2015.

The "Lower Saxony Electromobility Showcase - our horsepower goes electric" is mainly located in the Hanover-Braunschweig-Göttingen-Wolfsburg metropolitan region. Together with Volkswagen AG, Johnson Controls and Continental AG, around 200 partners from business, science, local authorities and the state of Lower Saxony want to utilise the opportunities offered by e-mobility.

ICT Services

The ICT Services sub-project is developing communication and services relating to electromobility that providers and interested parties can use for their applications and offers. These include, for example, intermodal travel and information services on issues relating to electromobility as well as an information system for car sharing vehicles and carpooling centres. Public internet access at the charging points will enable access to a new platform that aims to make the use of electric mobility more customer-friendly. The University of Oldenburg is one of a total of ten project partners from business and research.

Customer-orientated mobility

The services of the University of Oldenburg can be summarised under the heading of "customer-oriented mobility". The main aim here is to make electric mobility and related services (e.g. intermodal mobility services) available to customers in the form of mobile applications for journey planning and assistance. Data is collected and analysed to ensure the best possible fulfilment of the customer's mobility requirements. To this end, information systems from the fields of customer relationship management and business intelligence are integrated. With their help, travellers will also be supported in making their mobility as sustainable as possible in order to save energy and other resources and minimise harmful emissions. The sub-project will also include the development of a virtual carpooling centre.

Within the project, three research assistant positions and one assistant will be funded over a period of three years at the Chair of Information Systems I / VLBA.
