FAQ

Can I manage to study alongside my academic appointment?

With its flexible workload, our study format is specially tailored to working people. You study mainly online - when it fits into your calendar. You determine the pace of your studies yourself by deciding the number of modules you take per semester. Semesters off are also possible, for example in the event of family changes. As examinations are integrated into the modules in almost all degree programmes, there is no need to plan extra time for intermediate or final examinations.

When and where do the attendance phases take place?

There are one or two compact workshops per module at the University of Oldenburg. These events usually take place at the weekend on the Longlife Learning Campus.

How do I stay motivated to learn online?

In surveys, we often receive the following feedback: studying at C3L is fun. The varied degree programme is not perceived as stressful, but rather as enriching. The personal contact with fellow students contributes significantly to this. Practical project work is carried out in small groups and networks are often created that last beyond the degree programme. Our students are also supported by lecturers, mentors and the programme managers in personal exchanges - this learning environment is extremely motivating.

When can I start further education or study?

You can start your studies at C3L in both the winter and summer semesters. The following applies to the certificate programmes: If you take a module without being enrolled, you can register until the start of the respective course.

How do I get a study place?

To take part in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes, please apply for a place. The respective application deadlines can be found on the pages of the corresponding degree programmes. With your application documents, you also prove that you fulfil the admission requirements for the degree programme.

Do I fulfil the admission requirements?

The respective admission requirements can be found on the pages of the degree programmes.

Are there any requirements for participating in further education?

To take part in the further education certificate programmes, all you need to do is register for a module. You can register up until the start of the respective programme. There are no admission requirements and enrolment is not necessary. Interested parties register as guest students. If you later decide to enrol on a Bachelor's or Master's degree programme, the modules you have completed will be credited. In this case, the admission requirements defined for the degree programme will be checked.

How does the recognition of competences work?

Previous credits, additional non-university qualifications and skills acquired through professional experience can be recognised. You can submit a proposal for credit transfer at any time - before, with or after applying for a place on a degree programme. As a rule, credits are recognised if prior learning and modules are equivalent in terms of learning outcomes, content and level. This is assessed by the examining board of the respective part-time degree programme.

What academic appointments does the degree offer?

The university degree opens up many career opportunities for you - with your current or a new employer. Your in-depth specialised knowledge is a secure foundation for academic appointments. You will also score points with the soft skills you have learnt during your studies. The combination of professional and social expertise also qualifies you for specialised and responsible job profiles.

How can I finance my studies?

The costs for the degree programme can be reduced using several instruments. In certain degree programmes, we offer a quantity scale when booking several modules. Payment by instalments is also possible. You can also claim expenses for further academic education against tax. Many of our students also receive financial support from their employer - we are happy to provide tips on how to achieve this. Incidentally, there is no cost risk associated with failed exams - they can be retaken free of charge. You can find more information and tips in our financing guide.

Your question is not listed?

We will provide you with comprehensive information during an individual study counselling session. Together we will clarify which continuing education programme is right for you and what your study plan could look like.
