Commitment to the teacher training programme

Teacher-related university policy

In order to maintain and guarantee the quality of the teacher training programme at the University of Oldenburg, there are various committees and exchange formats that focus on and advise on the concerns of teacher training. This is part of quality management.

Your student perspective is needed in these instances of teacher training: You can profitably contribute your perspective by becoming a member of the committees, participating in exchange events or even being involved in the student body for teacher education.

Below you will find a list of the various ways in which you can get involved.

Committees and opportunities for participation

Council for Teaching (RaLe) and Commission for Teacher Training (KLB)

The Council for Teaching (RaLe) meets every 6 weeks and advises on overarching issues of teaching organisation and coordination of teacher training. This includes, in particular, the general parts of the Bachelor's examination regulations for dual-subject Bachelor's programmes, the regulations for the Master of Education degree programmes and the regulations for the area of specialisation for the teaching profession. The RaLe can make recommendations.
The RaLe includes voting rights for five representatives of the group of university lecturers and five academic staff. The faculty councils of School I to V elect one representative of each of the two status groups named.

The RaLe also includes five representatives of the student group with voting rights. The School Councils of Faculties I to V each elect one student member for each status group. All five M.Ed. degree programmes should be taken into account when nominating student candidates. New student representatives are elected once a year.

The KLB consists of the members of the Teaching Council and the Research Council, including the co-opted advisory members of both councils, and takes place two to four times a year.

Inter-faculty quality dialogue for the teaching profession (FüQL)

The cross-faculty quality dialogue for teaching is an exchange format within the framework of the quality management system of the University of Oldenburg. It is aimed at all teaching staff from subject didactics and educational sciences (including Special Education and Business Education) from School I to V. The participation of student teachers is also desired. The FüQL meets once or twice a year.

Central topics are inter-faculty topics on teacher training (e.g. school internships, central data and evaluation results, theory-practice interlinking, cross-phase teacher training, etc.) but also anomalies, questions and/or needs that have been identified at the level of the faculty sub-programme conferences.

Further information can be found here.

Master of Education examining boards

There are five Master of Education examining boards for all types of teaching degree programmes (primary, lower secondary and secondary modern schools, grammar school teaching, special education and Business Education). The committees examine Master's thesis applications, as well as incidents of failures and allegations of plagiarism.
In addition to the representatives of university lecturers and academic staff, student representatives are also required for the composition of the committees.

Further information can be found here.

Teacher training student body

The student body Lehramt represents all student teachers at the University of Oldenburg. You can also get involved in teaching-related issues by becoming a member of the student body.
You can find more information on the student body's website.
