Council for Teaching (RaLe)
The Council for Teaching (RaLe) advises on overarching issues relating to the organisation and coordination of teacher training. This includes, in particular, the general parts of the Bachelor's examination regulations for dual-subject Bachelor's programmes, the regulations for the Master of Education degree programmes and the regulations for the area of specialisation for the teaching profession. The RaLe can decide on recommendations. The RaLe can invite guests on specific occasions (e.g. deans of studies).
The member of the DiZ Board of Directors responsible for teaching is a member of the RaLe qua office and with voting rights. The RaLe also includes five representatives of the group of university lecturers and five academic staff members with voting rights. The Faculty Councils of School I to V elect one representative of each of the two status groups named. The RaLe also includes five representatives of the student group with voting rights. The School Councils of Faculties I to V each elect one student member for each status group. All five M.Ed. degree programmes should be taken into account when nominating student candidates. Representatives of the MTV status group who are employed at the DiZ to perform teaching support tasks can be co-opted by the RaLe in an advisory capacity.
The member of the Board of Directors responsible for teaching usually convenes a meeting of the RaLe every six weeks and chairs the meeting. The meetings are publicised to the university and the proposed agenda is announced; the same applies to its recommendations. The meetings of the RaLe are open to the public, subject to any other provisions in the university charter and the university's general rules of procedure.
